@GuitarraUltima It's worth mentioning that aside from the fact that the video cuts off while audience is still clapping (may have gotten more worked up... We just ca't know), different cultures exhibit outward displays of appreciation to different extremes. Some are more reserved than others. Don't know if that's the case here, but they seem to be pretty into the show from what I can tell. That said, bad audiences members suck and should just stay at home...
And another that the conductor actually had to tell the people to stop clapping every time the soloist did something cool. He actually stopped the show, told us it wasn't a rock concert and to please hold the applause for 'in between movements'. I was quite embarrassed for my little hick town ;-)
@Kelkaria If they aren't into that kind of music they shouldn't be there... That said, since the video cuts out before the applause stops (actually before it even got started) how do we know they didn't continue clapping for much longer or even done the standing ovation thing. I have been at concerts where everyone seemed to be looking around at others to see if anyone stood up... After several minutes of clapping (no one would stop) I stood and in seconds the whole room was up.
Dear Kelkaria, you must be one of those non-judgmentalists that are emerging everywhere these past few years. No offence please. The reason I can tell about ignorance in music is perhaps because I am a performing musician and have the feel for both appreciative and ignorant audience. Respect is an entire different subject. Nevertheless, they didn't show enough of it either. This talended and hard working girl deserves more than a few second applause. Look in their faces - no ecouragement there.
@GuitarraUltima I'm curious as to how the audience is "musically ignorant" when they are actually clapping and showing respect by remaining silent during said recital. And, who are you to call them Musically Ignorant? Perhaps that style does not suit them. Perhaps they did not like the dynamic or the rhythm. It's not for you to judge, so you'd do well as to NOT judge. She, in my opinion as well, does have a lot of potential, and she did well, but I am only one person. Not everyone agrees.
I usually don't make comments but I feel compelled in this instance. This young performer plays with feel and has a lot of potential. Watch some of her other performance from the same recital. What is disgusting here is the lousy audience. The girl must have had a hard time to play for an auditorium full of musically ignorant dead people. You have all my sympathy, Kim.
