He wasn't in love with her AT ALL. It's amazing how they rewrite history. They've turned Lily into this fallen angel that Sonny loved, when in actuality it was nothing like that. He was in love with Brenda at the time and would have left Lily in a heartbeat if it weren't for her pregnancy and her father.

SB and MB are majic together. Even though she's not playing Carly, she should have lots of scenes with SOnny. Now they just need to keep Kate in NYC!!

@mrncy227 I agree with you. Sonny needed forgiveness from Lily. He needed her to tell him that it was okay for him to be happy because he felt that he didn't deserve it because of the way he treated her and the fact that she died in an explosion that was meant for him.

I agree with you all about Lily but the point was not that sonny was in love with her it was she was in love with him and he knew he didnt love her back (Brenda) or appreciate her and then she dies because of her association to him so he was filled with guilt.
