  • there's nothing you can say in defense fact is Zep's greatest hits were rip-offs

  • No it wasn't paying homage to their blues favorites. If they had truly respected those artists they would have made clear that these song from those artists. And of course it's disrespectful. What if you painted a picture or wrote a song that you were really proud of and then some one simply stole it made it more famous, made loads of money, and were so enamored with the original that they lied about its author and origins and took sole credit for themselves. I dont think you'd be so forgiving.

  • The Robert Parker intro was used for the Yardbirds 'I Wish You Would.' Further proof of Page's rip off.

  • Zep were a covers band!

  • @whatthefreakinheck1 you knew, but none of my friends did? fucking liar

    this is why i became a punk and stomped fucking rockers

  • marriot explained that he didnt think it was stealing, because he couldnt sing like waters...rofl

  • eye-opening vid. You cannot argue with the evidence. However, any song in the public domain (not sure what the time limit was then though) is fair game. To say 'traditional, arranged by...' is perfectly legal,and allows the arranger to get writers credits (eg Animals and House of the rising Sun). Still, they ripped off their favourite artists,and my respect for The Zep has suffered a blow after watchinf.

  • @blackxred funny thing or not, i'm not say i don't agree with you BUT THE FACT stands un-challenged at the top of this thread with 17 thumbs up.

  • @jayrockwell33, et al.;

    Funny thing. No matter the reality of their theft without compensation, they took earlier pieces and rocked the shit out of them. Other than the people who were directly involved, like Willie Dixon, who are free to sue to receive just compensation, who gives a fuck? The world's much better off, including for the original artists, than it would be if they hadn't recorded those snippets. (Damn, I'm more of a Zep fan than I thought I was.)

  • I actually quite enjoy seeing where some of the pieces come from but, LMAO, 40-50 years later, someone hates Zep and takes the negative approach. You didn't write this shit? Why the indignation?

    (Hmmm..., after some more Willie Dixon, I think I'll go listen to some Negative Approach.)

  • led zeppelin just re-recorded the musics, if the songwriter don't get paid, thats not zep problem

  • i'm shocked....im a songwriter too....if anyone stole from me i would kill them
