Hello again.
Another video from me, experimenting with reverb sound on the guitar.
The intro is a part of "Rider to the sea" by singer/guitarist Anna Calvi.
Anna Calvi uses a Fender Telecaster sunburst with a Vox AC30 amp, often with lot of reverb in her live concerts.

I'm also playing Whiskey in the Jar by Thin Lizzy in the same style. Just a little tribute to Phil Lynott and Gary Moore who died in January 2011.

  • This is a very good version of the Anna Calvi song, I'm really curious as to how you got that tone. You say garageband 09, that's on apple mac right? how does it work, is there somewhere on a mac where you can plug the guitar into it. Or is it a cable from the vox amp to the mac, what's that cable called?

  • @SamOwenI I havent use a real amplifier, but a software based amp in Garageband for the mac.

You can choose different amp models which sounds (well not exactly) like the real amps, like the Vox, Marshall, Fender amps. I used a Vox Ac30 type amp. I connected a small jack cable into the Line-in from my iMac to my guitar with a jack converter.

  • what reverb pedal are you using here? this tone is just phenomenal

  • @plassma Thanks, I actually didn't use any pedals. It was a reverb setting in Garageband '09.

  • @peterhopqk so is this just your tele direct line in to your computer?

  • @plassma Yes. I have used a Vox Ac30 amp preset.

  • Fucking incredible bro

  • Sounds great, and it´s cool to see how she is doing that, it´s impossible to see/hear when she does it herself thankyou!

  • This sounds wonderful.

  • very nice tablature ??

  • Tabs..?! ...just kidding, I can play by ear. Good sound dude. I like Anna Calvi, and her tone.

  • haaahhh a sense of relaxing sound and none of that distortion for once

  • @peterhopqk wow, I didn't know jack converters had been invented yet lol, that's nifty :D
