Earth Hour is almost here again, and all you have to do is turn off your lights for an hour each year to be part of Earth Hour. But have you really changed your behaviour to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? Check out this new Earth Hour song from Dave Maton. You can download the single from iTunes and CD Baby.

When I heard that our planet was fading away
I knew that we needed a man for today
Someone to take control of this world on the brink of destruction

My heroes are Bono, Geldof and Sting
Cause they sorted out this whole poverty thing
You can count on a rock star too much time on his hands to get things done

CHORUS
I'm a man with global responsibilities
And I'm doing my bit to save humanity
I considered the options and the answer is clear
I'll turn off my lights for an hour each year

I'm uniting nations, I'm a man with a plan
I don't put recyclables in the trash can
Won't you come with me people and get with the power
Saving our planet it'll take just an hour

I know that the rainforests are being cut down
But I need outdoor furniture from Timber Town
I don't know where it comes from but hey man the price is right for me

I got my eye on a big screen tv
I like to play x box and watch pornography
And this time next year I'll be doing this all in glorious 3D

CHORUS

I test drove a hybrid but it just wasn't me
So I went for the entry level Humvee
There's even bigger spaces at the market for people like me

Sea levels they're rising but I know what to do
Work with me people, we can save Tuvalu
Thank God when leaders met in Denmark so much got achieved

CHORUS

Just sixty minutes of your valuable time is all its gonna take
Just flick the switch man that's all you gotta do
To save Tuvalu
For me and for you
Keep the sky blue

  • @Mr Frosty. That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. You get it brother. If you're going to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk.

  • Give your friends a laugh, forward this video on to them. BTW you can also see my Facebook page "don't be a once a year environmentalist" - it's a hoot.

  • Yes, we can all make a difference, but the fact is we don't. There are too many people that turn off their lights for 60 minutes each year and think they've done enough. Pollution and landfill coming from households is out of control.

This isn't an anti-Earth Hour song, just gotta read between the lines. Have another listen.

  • Thanks Mike. Someone has to have a healthy level of cynicism about Earth Hour. Rok on.

  • Thats awesome man! You did a great job with this song, I love it ^_^

  • All BS. My lights will be burning as usual.

  • Earth hour is all about awareness, although 96% of people won't change their habits, 4% may just do so.

  • I'm turning all my lights, TV's, computers and stereo on then taking the V8 for an hour of hard driving.

  • Don't let opinions like that one stop us all from making a difference.

Yes one hour does make a difference & It's making a point that if we all stand together for one purpose, change can happen... My family will be part of The Earth Hour 2011 and I will continue to support the WWF...

I do make a difference! We all make a difference!

  • What is the song called for earth hour 2011

  • if they can sell plastic throwaway bottles with tap water in it to suckers they should be able to sell turn off your lights for an hour.. video seems to be stopping at 1.09 .
