Specs: MacPro1:1 Nvidia 7300GT, 4GB RAM 667Mhz, 2 x 2.66Ghz Dual-Core Xeons, Leopard 10.5.6

Workaround for "Select CD-ROM Boot Type" error

----Leopard Users----
To load up the drivers from the Leopard disk simply run the bootcamp installer, wait for it to fail, then Windows should pop up offering to run the installer in "Compatibility Mode" -CLICK- and watch it install.

-OR-

Navigate to Start/Computer and then right click on the Leopard disc and select "Open" in the drop down menu to gain access to the individual driver installers

----Snow Leopard Users----

  • @4macsake do you just start your Mac up and you choose what OS you want?

  • @Toady373 Once Windows is installed correctly you can press and hold the "Option" key during the boot process and you'll get the opportunity to select your boot volume (OSX / Windows, or Linux)

  • @4MacSake Oh, alright. Thank you

  • @Toady373 You're Welcome.

  • @JargonWithCheeze No, the camera I used is amplifying the sound. Like I said, the Mac Pro runs dead silent normally. But I choose to run the fans at a higher RPM because it gets very hot in my office during the summer.

  • @azamatms Modding is always fun. I've seen that transplant done before, if you put in the time it should turn out pretty sweet. I still play around with my old beige G3 desktop, overclocked it to 300mhz from the original 233, upgraded the ram, dropped in a second 12 year old IDE HDD leftover from a dead Gateway 2k and used XpostFacto to get 10.3.9 running on it, good times!

  • @4MacSake im thinkin of buyin one but i cant buy a mac pro... theyre so damn expensive. i might get a mac pro case and put all my parts in it. although it would require some modding though

  • @azamatms It actually cools quite well, although I do run my fans at a higher RPM to mitigate fluctuation in room temperature. The crappy mic on the camera I used to record the video makes it sound much worse than it is, everyone who has owned one knows these machines run almost dead silent in a stock config.

  • @4MacSake wow that must have pretty shitty cooling if its running the fans that loud. just build a hackintosh and watercool it. much easier!

  • @azamatms lol It's actually the cooling fans of the Mac Pro whirling away.
