@zylosmom I agree ; nobody knows steve but jewel is world famous. they did have good chemistry. he met her at a coffee shot in pacific beach san diego and he wanted to get his mouth on those enormous jugs of hers. who can blame her ?
Folks, he did not "get her started". They were playing at the same venues early on, and if anything, she got him noticed. She was the draw of the early shows (I was there). He had a very strong local following, but she was the breakout talent. That's the way it works. They were friends, and she was a great singer, but she didn't really know guitar yet, so he used to help her with the guitar. No sad story here, he did get a record contract. After that it's up to him.
Cool chemistry. The youthfull goofin' off havin' fun kinda joy is fun to watch. Oh to live on Sugar Mountain! I think Steve kinda got the raw end of the deal too. But what do I know? ~cg5
He had a record deal, then got out of the contract. I know what you mean, but Steve deserves somebody better- he's a happy kinda guy with a big heart and a great soul. I don't think he's too lonely.
Does anyone think their's is a tragic story? For him, not her. She's got Ty. But he got her started and he he doesn't even have a record deal. He doesn't even have her. And he's still not married. It just sorta strikes me as sad...

He wrote "you were meant for me" for her. That's what made her famous, and that's why she gives him credit.

Several things I love about this:
-Steve's short hair
-Big Blue
-the loud crowd reaction
-Jewel's goofy dancing!
