Senate Induction Invitation

Hello East Campus Faculty,

Over the last 11 months, our campus faculty senate has tried to respond to your ideas and concerns in several ways.

We've created the basis for a faculty driven technology committee to advise campus administration on technology purchases and refined the process of awarding campus SPD funds for travel to professional development opportunities

We've re-engaged adjunct faculty through the senate and started a practice of faculty-to-faculty training through the Copy and Steal Everything Luncheons.

We've represented faculty concerns about the testing center, the bookstore, and issues of growth on the East Campus, moved to a simpler system for campus-wide voting and we continue to represent the faculty viewpoint on policy discussions concerning the withdrawal of students, the delineation of faculty planning and faculty working days, the process of textbook selection and the annual reviews of tenured faculty.

One of the ongoing issue we've been working on is making the Senate itself more responsive and effective for you. Towards that end, I'd like to extend an invitation to you. All Faculty Senate meetings are open for you to attend, but I'd like to invite you specifically to the next one which occurs on December 1st , 2011.

From 12:30 -- 1 PM we'll serve light refreshments in the atrium of building 3. At 1:05 PM we'll begin the Senate meeting by inducting the new Senators from your division and reaffirming the commitment of existing senators.

This is a great chance for you to the colleagues who will represent your interests during the upcoming year. I hope you can join us.
