I had to change the nut because all 6 strings would go flat after tuning. The nut was really the only clear answer. But the new nut was a lot taller than the origanal nut so I had to do some sanding with a Dremel ( man those things are handy ). Next time I change strings i will show a little trick with the fretboard.
I just use lemon oil this time.

  • Hi brb 333, Very nice!

I have also planned to install a new schaller nut on my jackson but I don't know if I should install top screws or mounting studs under the neck, the mounting stud seems thicker and better grip of the nut than the top screws that seems so thin, but im afraid that mounting studs will break the neck joint over time like some Ibanez guitars have broken with this style of install.

What do you think is the best way?

I was considering the same thing but i came to the conclusion that drilling 2 holes into the neck just below the headstock will NOT be a wise choice. Its fine the way it is so why fuck with it? Let me know. Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @romanlara87

Thank you, I actually was thinking the same thing when I was doing the nut. But then I thought that drilling 2 whole under the style of headstock Jacksons have would not be a good idea. There is always a reason for something. Plus if its not broke or loose then dont fuck with it. Between the 2 screws and the presure of the strings it will be fine.

I know your itching to modifiy your guitar. You can insulate it for beginners. let me know how its going.Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @brib333 Thanks bro for the information it really helpt me,

another thing that i would like too know is what kind of sandpaper or file is necessery too file down the nut?

Im very unsure what kind of file and sand paper

  • @romanlara87

It depends. If you have to take a lot off and want to do it quit use heavy. It your unsure about thee job just use a light medium. But trry t use a Dremel. The great. But you know just sand a little then try fitting it. If its to high then sand again.

  • It is really killing me... What song is this. please email and tell me at j4165y@yahoo.com

I just checked you have a a SG. COOL Guitar!!!!!! I think I would be cheaper to go to your local shop or may be not. You looking to buy a Peavey 100 watt ValveKing head. Its absolutly brand new in the box. I play direct into my mixer so I do use it much. Or maybe a Marshall MG HDFX HALF stack?
