General response: The RNC is a blood choke, you could be out in as little as 8 secs vs 30-60 for an air choke. It takes very little pressure on the carotid artery to close it off.
You learn proper circular movement in all good standup styles. That way you don't get surrounded, kick one attacker in the balls and RUN. Moving away on your legs is easier than moving on the ground. Especially when you're already grappling with someone.
BTW don't get me wrong, I think BJJ is great but it's just not suited for a street situation.
Also, why is it people seem to think eye gouging, biting, and groin attacking somehow makes you impervious to attacks from behind? You will be attacked from behind the same standing and kicking as standing and choking. Actually if you're on your back the only thing behind you is the ground. Back to the wall or back to the ground nobody can sneak up behind you. And if someone tries to "kick you in the head on the ground" well then MOVE your head jackass! It aint anchored there!
How much time/ strength do you think it takes to snap an elbow joint? or to pass out from a blood choke? Of course you wont let a rapist go because he "gives up" do not be a moron. The tapping is used in a demonstration to show the technique was used properly, just like in a striking art demo the person will fall down simulating a "knock out" even tho no real attack was made. Hope that clears it up for you.
Are you serious? Do you expect the thug/rapist to "tap" or "submit"? Are you gonna let him go because he "gave up"? No? Well then, do you have enough strength/time to actually choke him or brake his arm/leg? What if somebody comes from behind while you're doing your armlock or RNC?
Think. Stab the eye, kick the groin and RUN! Don't grapple on the street.
Nice video. I like how the defender usually stays up. Most bjj seems to emphasize only ground work, which is good for competitions. In the street, you only go down if you have to because you never know if he has a buddy who will stomp on your head.
