If you are having excessive wear on your front tires and you find the steering a bit stiff and the trike hard to ride, you probably have a wheel alignment problem.
Here's a video HOW TO do just that and you won't believe the difference it makes in handling and performance, quite remarkable!
Thanks to my Dad, Bob T and Dave Faulkner for all the advice and also Richard for once again shooting the video for me.

  • It's me again. David at KMX said that our nylon wheels shouldn't go past 45lb's. I'm assuming with the Big Apples having a limit of 90lb's, you've probably gone way over 45lb's. How are your wheels holding up?

I'm considering Big Apples, but may I ask a couple questions?

    1. Do you feel a difference in speed?

    2. Do you feel a difference in gearing? Utah trikes says you gain 3 gear inches, which would be hurtfull going up hills.

Please let me know what you think. I value your opinion. Thanks

  • @zoomie888

I pump my Big Apples up to their max pressure of 80psi, wheels are doing fine, no signs of wear or damage.

    1. Only a "VERY SLIGHT" difference in speed loss with the Big Apples, however a HUGE DIFFERENCE in ride comfort,

    2. I feel no noticeable difference in gearing.

    Good Luck!

  • This was very helpful! I recently got a KMX Kart myself too a couple days ago and your video really helps! May I ask what tire you decided to go with and how did you choose that particular one?

  • Thanks for the compliment and you're very welcome!

I chose to use BIG APPLE tires on my KMX for 2 reasons, they have a kevlar lining making them very puncture resistant and also because they are nice big fat tires will plenty of air for a much softer ride, since the KMX has no suspension.

These are GREAT tires and make a big difference to the overall ride comfort.

    GOOD LUCK :)

  • I agree that the Schwalbe Bg Apple Tires are the way to go. The ones that come stock from KMX are ok, but mine were out of round and stiff and I just decided to replace them rather than wait for them to wear out. They will make good back up tires in case I need them. The difference in ride quality is significant. I highly recommend them
