they don't eat. its in the saturniid family (giant silk moths), its a female probably emitting pheromones in the air for a male moth.... females don't fly that much. looks like a polyphemus t me.

i used to be scared of moths until i made a sport out of killing them with a tea towel as they flew in the kitchen with the door open in summer, it was really quite fun!

Most huge moths do not good at flying even though they have huge wings. It was not because they ate too much. They just tend to be inactive all the times, unlike butterflies which fly most of the time.

sorry for late, we just spooted this one where we work, it was outside. it just seemed so big, having hard time to fly or may be they are like that. i have no idea. if you have time, have a look the latest works (this was among the earlier works)
