Roxie Roker was originally turned down for the role of Helen Willis. Norman Lear, said " I just don't think you are right for the part, you don't look like the type of woman who would be married to a white man, and the viewers won't buy it " She responded " Well, I ought to know what being married to a white man is like, I've been married to one for 14 years ". She was later cast for the part. I have always loved Roxie Roker! Jeffersons was greatest show in history!!!!
