I actually think this over the top production is rather fitting for scar's grandiose schemes... He probably plays something ridiculous like this in his head whilst plotting XD I prefer the more mature elements of the film but I think the broadway version was right to draw from the African costumes, singing and mass dances. I think it took on a more serious and emotional tone when needed but the random gags looked even more out of place...
