European Shotokan Karate Championship 2009 in Wels Austria, Senior Kumite Final between Hussin Dimitri (shiru - white) and Grüner Christian (aka - red).
For those who are not familiar with Karate rules, the techniques have to be executed with maximal intensity, but have to be controlled in order to protect the athletes.
although it was a spectacular technique, because Gruner Christian didn't control his technique he was justly disqualified and the winner was Hussin Dimitri.
Any way, this is just another example of the principles behind Karate, one technique is often more than enough to finish fights, this principle is what Karate Competitions are based in.

  • You know its a fake KO after the guy makes sure to hold onto the kicking leg, looks at the guy, turns around, and THEN falls. Got to love Shotokan though. Practiced it for 15 years, and you still have the faking going on. Bounce-bounce point kumite is a sport. It was never, is never, nor will it ever be applicable in a real situation.

  • @ln026 Fake?! Sure... That's why he went to the "fake" Hospital right after the fight were the "fake" doctors told him he had a "fake" cheek bone broken... He couldn't even fight for Germany in the team kumite final, were they lost to England.... Yes, this is sport Karate, we do figth for points, and the techniques have to be controllled to score. We are not professional atletes, some of the fighters there problably had to pay from there own pocket to be there to get a chance to represent their

  • country. As far as fighting sports go these rules are just as good or bad for pratical street self defense as the rules of taekwondo, kickboxing, boxing, mma or whatever. Where there are rules there is no street self defense, just sport... So if you are looking for self defense should you just drill self defense aplications? NO! A fight is not programed you have to know how to improvise thats were sparring comes along...And if you want to see who is the better at some martial art, you get rules

  • fight by those rules and see who is better at martial arts sport rules contest. That is what karate competition is, except that we don't get payed for it as they to in boxing, kickboxing or MMA... Don't be fooled Karate if trained properly has plenty of self defense drills, and in Dojo Sparring you can do all types of trows, knee and leg kicks, locks and whatever, but for competition we need to have rules!

  • @ln026 U MUST BE THE BIGGEST MORON IN THE WORLD! GO FACE A BLACK BELT IN 'a real situation' GETTED UR ASS KICKED THEN COME BACK AND SAY ITS FAKE. TOTAL IMBECILE!!

  • @blackbelt90 haha love your reason for making a mistake it's like saying i'm italian but hey nobodies perfect :P

  • @ln026 true, true

  • It saddens me that I guess I am now a senior in ma- but these two guys clearly know the work...nicely done.

    Peace,

    David

  • @KarateCoimbra You're right when you say that karate need rules etc. etc. but i think that if you are able to control your technique, you are also able to KO someone with JUST THAT TECHNIQUE!

Sorry if I made mistakes but I'm Italian! XD

  • @ICHIBAAAN why do you think that Mister Asshole?

  • @ln026 Would you have told Muhammed Ali or Bruce Lee not to bounce around like that? As you have correctly pointed out in another comment, this is competition kumite, not real life application, these guys are trying to win a point, not hurt each other, they move around to make it difficult for the opponent to read their moves. As a karateka for 15 years, you must have competed at some point, and can appreciate how dangerous a gedan strike is...

  • taekwondo=fake

    Karate=real

  • @ln026 its not fake i know the guy i was competing in the legends competition with him and @karatecoimbra he's also right the technique used in competitions like these with all the bouncing should be kept in competition in a real street situation you wouldent bounce and use flashy kicks

  • anyone can throw a punch its the easiest thing to do but throwing a controlled punch using the same speed and power is the challenge
