Synopsis!
"Romance & Cigarettes" is a 2006 musical romantic-comedy film written and directed by John Turturro.

The film, initially scheduled for an August 2005 release date, was postponed, partly so it could premiere at the Venice Film Festival, partly some speculate so that it could be better prepared for Academy Award nomination.

The film opened in the United Kingdom on March 24, 2006, the Netherlands on March 30, 2006, and the rest of Europe in April 2006. United Artists had been scheduled to distribute the film in the United States, but when the film finally got a limited release on September 7, 2007, director Turturro decided to distribute the film himself. United Artists remains a partial rights holder to the film, but Icon International, actor Mel Gibson's company, now has full distribution rights in the U.S. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is distributing the film outside the U.S. and Sony Pictures (under license from Icon International, and ironically a cousin company to UA) released the DVD on February 12, 2008.

Plot!
Down-and-dirty musical love story set in the world of the working class. Nick is an ironworker who builds and repairs bridges. He's married to Kitty, a dressmaker, a strong and gentle woman with whom he has three daughters. He is carrying on a torrid affair with a redheaded woman named Tula. Nick is basically a good, hardworking man driven forward by will and blinded by his urges. Like Oedipus at Colonus, he is sent into exile and searches to find his way back through the damage he has done. Explores the cost and value of a relationship through life and death. When the characters can no longer express themselves with language, they break into song, lip-synching the tunes lodged in their subconscious. It is their way to escape the harsh reality of their world - to dream, to remember, and to connect to another human being.

whoops! we filmed pelham 123 in 2008,the movie was released on june 12th 2009,my dream is to be in another big budget film with a speaking role,however i did speak in pelham 123,butt! it wasnt used,i yelled out mr.mayor! mr.mayor! we need some answers! answer us!

i now feel special,because i had the sopranos standing in front of my house in 2004,then in 2006 i was casted in pelham 123 with tony soprano aka james gandolfini,i never thought i wud be in a movie with my neighboor john turturro,or james gandolfini,or denzel or john travoltra,and i was also in movie 'american gangster,in the courtroom scene,i have no agent nor manager,i want one,soo god placed me in those movies,most of the other actors have agents&managers,i thank god for the blessings.

when filming was in progress if i left my house,to get back in,i had to show my photo i.d. to nypd to prove i live in the house in rosedale where they were filmimg,very good security,btw i 1st noticed john tuttturro in movie "do the right thing" directed by spike lee,in the movie theatre i said oh shoot! i know this man,john tuttturro inspired me,sooo i ended up in my 1st movie which was "belly" directed by hype williams,after completion of that movie i was later casted in "autumn in new york.

JAMES GANDOLFINI is in this movie,maybe he remembered me cuz i was in movie pelham 123 in his scene the scene with the mayor,off set he was tappin me on the shoulders and looking away,when james was in movie "romance and cigerettes" i was taking pics of him while they were rehearsing in front of my house,i was outside everyday watching them film it was fun,and they were up late singing and dancing,my sister said oh lord he dancing in the middle of the street,ain't it 3am in the morning? ilaughed

i have to buy this dvd,cuz john tutturro used our rosedale home in this movie,because i was his neighboor in real life,so he came back home to rosedale queens to film his movie using his childhood home,he asked my neighbors to move out of their home,so he payed them to move out,and payed my mom to use her house in his movie,the best year ever,alot of the scenes were filmed on my block and in front of my house,it was a joy coming home just to watch the actors in motion,i had to show id to get in
