@voidenter -- the no-camera rule is part of HIPPA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act); if you have ever worked in a health care facility, you should know this. It is for patient PRIVACY. HIPAA requires patient authorization for the release of protected health information, which includes patient photography, for purposes beyond treatment, payment, and healthcare operations.

they cant fire you for reporting un-ethical treatment of patients..
get a employment lawyer?
tho the video didnt show much.

@audioajunkie they have those no camera laws so they can abuse people and get away with unethical behavior.. why else would they have them?? so you cant tape people "getting better" and dr.'s doing a :good job"?? you figure they would welcome cameras to prove the treatment works, and all the tax oney wasted is worth it.. instead of just collecting a paycheck and not giving a shit about anything else.
un ethical and unprofessional behavior should be reported with evidence.

I don't see type of "abuse" in this video, either. That said, I *highly* doubt you were fired for reporting anything...... you likely got fired for videotaping at work! I work in in-patient psych and ANY type of recording/photography or sharing of personal information (especially on facebook/youtube/internet) is STRICTLY prohibited for confidentiality reasons...... there's a reason for the HIPPA laws!
I sure hope you either got out of patient care OR at least learn about professionalism! :p

Should have just let the borderline get on with it

There is almost no affordable housing available in California, so unfortunately this stuff happens all of the time. I am a survivor of some of the group homes and psychiatric institutions that are out there. Unfortunately the only people who work in group homes and psychiatric hospitals are sadists who hurt the mentally ill, because they can get away with it. Instead of helping the mentally ill they make them worse with the abuse, and they put women on birth control to cover up the sexual abuse.

When I was in a mental health ward they ritually refused to call a doctor for severe chest pain on the basis that calling a doctor only encourages negative illness beliefs. On a medical ward in the NHS this would be illegal, on a psychiatric ward in the NHS abuse is part of the 'therapy' because psychiatry is based on theories and not fact.

when i was in a psych ward one of the mental health staff grabbed my boob once

So sad to see the abuse of patients still continues today. Some of these criminaly insane group homes are more violent and unsafe than letting the crazies loose on the streets to do what thou wilt.
This video proves extreem sexual sodomy, rape and brutality of every kind still exists in today's modern asylums.
For permanently institutionalized patients, there is no place to hide from the sadistic and vicious treatment that almost seems condoned in these Federally paid-for hellholes of madness.
Im an ex nurse and I say its shocking that abuse goes on by people who are meant to care for these people. I hope you got a job at a better place and that the people carrying out the abuse were stripped of their mediacl/nursing registration. I hope to God that place has been shut down.
