This is why we MUST all unite and never permit Christine Quinn to win/steal another election. This Speaker refuses to permit the Sprinkler Bill to be hear. She doesn't support the sprinklers in Pet shops and/or businesses that house animals. She stated it was an unnecessary business expense and burden on business owners. Last year, over 200 animals were burned alive in a pet shop in the Bronx. Several firemen were injured trying to rescue the animals. Yet Quinn passed the bill that requires business owners to spend thousands of dollars on new shutters because she finds the security gates unsightly.

The least that we can do is contact the city council member and inform them of this fire and demand this industry is phased out for the green cars. Also call and demand sprinklers in any business that boards/house animals.

We are asking those of you who live in the following City Council districts to please call and/or e-mail your councilmember and ask him or her to support this bill. Personalized letters work best, but we have included a sample draft below. Each of the councilmembers have received ample information on bill Intro 86, but they need some encouragement. If you are unsure of which City Council district you reside in, please check here.

Thank you in advance for contacting your councilmember and for your support of placing horse-drawn carriages with green cars in NYC

None of the Stables have any fire sprinklers and are grandfathered from complying with the current NYC Fire Code that all other commercial buildings must abide.

A BIG THANK YOU to Engine 54 for responding and putting out this fire. Our Bravest.

A horse stable on Manhattan's West Side caught on fire Thursday.
The electrical fire started at Chateau Stables just after 9 p.m. on West 48th street between 11th and 12th avenues.
The fire department quickly got the fire under control.
There were no injuries, and it appears none of the carriage horses needed to be evacuated.
