Tokyo Tower went green for the night on 17 March, St Patrick's Day, to mark the Irish national day and to celebrate 50 years of Ireland- Japan links.
Green is the colour of Ireland, the Emerald Isle and is associated with St Patrick's Day celebrations all over the world.
This year Tokyo was first in the global celebration of St Patrick's Day and the picture of the green Tokyo Tower made the front page of the Yomiuri Shimbun and was covered by Irish television.
Irish company Glen Dimplex sponsored this unique event.
This is the first of a year long programme of events to celebrate 50 years of Japan Ireland links so watch out for the next event!
