  • Use the short throw to move the short end of a lever. Thus the long end of the lever will have a greater movement. The Sub woofer should have more than enough for a 10:1 I would think.

  • I tried using mechanical advantage to pivot the stator, but its mass overwhelms the tiny speaker, and the overall response is very damped at very low freqs -- not crisp at all.

The good news is that as the rotor speed increases, the required arc length decreases (i.e. less than 5 degrees), so the next step is to try this at a higher rotor speed and frequency.

    Yada ..

  • Good! Now thats thinking outside the speaker :)

Remember you can leverage the voice coils power to amplify the necessary distance needed to oscillate the stator. With that you should be able to easily reproduce the effect.

  • The subwoofer cost only $9.00, and has a very limited throw -- maybe 10 mm total. A larger subwoofer with a longer throw is what I'll be trying next -- in addition to tangential pivoting of the stator.

    Cheers :)

    Yada..

  • good work and idea, i found out working on my own mpmm motors that once the rotor was spinning that the magnets/stator at the right moment in the field could produce a huge effect on the rotor for just a little effort. adminonduty is working as well in your similar direction. keep brainstorming...
