  • Thats the reason why we never try any canadian restaurants..its because their "veggies" are never veggies. Even with the fish sometimes there is pork there waiting for us :)) So we eat only Pakistani. Other than that Subway Tuna sandwich with Swiss cheese and brown/white bread..and kids usually take their fries only.

Oh I miss haleem/paya/nihari/dahi baray from road side vendors of Pakistan with the smell of burning garbage and diesel :))

  • @missshiekh Yes in many European countries there is Pork in almost everything... and then the issue of Halal food also... hmmm Haleem/Paya/ Dahi Baray<(don't know that one) I did like Haleem...Paya hmmmnot a big fan really.. I have to google Dahi Baray... :D Subway is good.. But not many options for us Vegi's :(

  • Maybe the lady thought that turkeys and tuna are vegetables? Apparently, the qualifications for the job did not include ability to use brains. Yikes! lol

  • @stevos999 Lol, that is what my Brother said!

  • It's the same in most restaurants/cafes, another shocking fact is that many restaurants LABEL food as vegetarian when it's not, eg. including, "vegetables in oyster sauce" on the veg menu, or a really SNEAKY example was a Chinese restaurant that had "vegetarian noodles". I asked the lady whether they were vegan, for example whether they had any egg or dairy, then asked about chicken stock and she said, "yes, everything has chicken stock", INCLUDING the food labeled 'vegetarian'.

  • @simplekidscrafts But here is the important question when it comes to your deen do you do what is required of you... for instance if you go to Hajj at the end of Hajj you know what you have to do.

Asalamaleikum and pleasure meeting you sis. Keep on being vegetarian, as long as you don't do anything that goes against the precepts of your deen :).

  • @2593Multi well I am good how are you sis? - a joke for Missshiekh. Anyway Ally, so you are a vegetarian, BIG deal!! (I am being sarcastic of course). Nah just kidding. The way I see it if you want to be a vegetarian that is your business, I don't think that the girl misunderstood you, I think her understanding of vegetarian is different than yours. For instance some of my neighbors are vegetarian and they eat fish, eggs, etc. Others are VEGAN and would not eat anything with animal by products.

  • @B3rettaZ26 If you want to find a job, Yes. The first Language is English. And in Schools (most of them English is the first Language) Arabic is taught in many schools but you have the option to not choose the Subject.

Arabic is a must only for Government Jobs.

16.5% Emiratis, 83.5% South Asian, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Filipino, Thai, Iranian, Westerners (So, say Wikipedia) :D
