UPMC Shadyside has achieved Magnet® status designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center by demonstrating a commitment to nursing excellence and quality patient care. Receiving Magnet® status is one of the highest achievements an organization can obtain in professional nursing; only six percent of hospitals nationwide have reached this goal. UPMC St. Margaret is also a Magnet-designated hospital.
They should never have received magnet status: 1. Poorly done, or never done assessments. 2. Never confirm vitals from Patient Care Tech/Nurses Aides. 3. Do not follow up with pain interventions within 1 hour of pain med being administered. 4. Zero patient teaching. 5. Zero advocating for the patient. 6. Unnecessary catheterizations of patients for the nurses' convenience. 7. Never ambulate or position patients on time or at all. F- for the nursing staff at UPMC Shadyside.......
