  • This is an extraordinary misunderstanding of biological evolution. Why couldn't all of these features have evolved slowly over time as the modern woodpeckers evolved from proto-woodpeckers? Except for the "nostril-rooted tongue" which is just wrong. The tongue of a woodpecker is rooted in the same place as in other birds. A slightly longer tongue offers an obvious advantage, as does a slightly stronger beak if you need to peck into wood. This video is a lot of silly wishful thinking.

  • @Vreejack The tongue is no good without a hole to stick it in!! All the features are worthless even harmful unless they all are fully formed. Therefore evolution cannot happen!

  • Neil Peart is an evolutionist (but someone who is intelligent and creates thought provoking lyrics)!

  • You should know that the members of Rush all are strong supporters of science, and therefore strong believers in Evolution. So this pairing does not make sense. Darwin is correct, the only debate is how the process works exactly, not if it happens.

  • Of course the very existence of this video helps confirm evolution by showing its couterpart: regression.

When a species under-uses its abilities it starts to lose the use of it (in this case the human brain).

Example: fish in caves lose their eyes, birds with no predators lose the ability to fly (much less energy just to walk/swim).

  • Mooooooo.

And every variant and nuance of genetics was 'Created'?

    Don't be such a dogwanker.

Adaptability to the evolving world over millenia is the only thing that keeps life ticking onwards.

    Mooooooooooooo.

  • This is funny. But I do wonder how a woodpecker all of a sudden evolved into a cartoon. How could feathers all of a sudden become ink ? And where are the missing lithographs or even sketches ? It's all starting to make sense to me now...

  • so do you think Happy Feet's penguin journey disrupts the prime directive, mr spock?

  • rudyard kipling one misphrases persisitence can only be worn by serpentines and sinisters...

i tend to disagree... woody the woodpecker was a troublemaker, that's right a trouble maker, eh.

Far outside the steampunk realm of omg love it.

  • rush time machine philosophy

just desserts at bubba's bar n grill

  • Thanks for the laugh.

  • crap dude. the dam bird evolved the dam tongue in parallel with its beak, skull and rest of the body. it wound's need it if it didn't had all those features that help it drill into wood. but it dose, and it evolved the dam tongue. you, like many other, don't have the smallest idea about how evolution works.

  • comment to the wrong guy dope

  • @jimmynorton1001 and then there is the issue that more and more scientists are coming to the conclusion that life has not existed sufficiently long for evolution to have advanced so greatly as it supposedly has. Etc
