check out my next reviews 229 and 230 which are about Hibiki and Nikka AllMalt., plus opinions on Japanese Whiskies.

  • Hello Ralfy

You mentioned there is a cask strength version of this. I've found a good price on it, but would you recommend it?? It seems to be one of the very few Serge Valentin has not reached to review yet.

  • @chanocarlsen

I don't know this version but suspect it is a good value, competent version which will not be 5 star, but a decent 3 star !

  • Ralfy when you said this taste more like a 14 or 15 year old, is it a very strict law that distilleries have to bottle at the age written down on the label or do they sometimes cheat somehow? I'm sure they don't but I just thought it was worth makin the point...

  • @chrish12345

cheating on age statements is illegal and fraudulent, ... what I men't was that the whisky 'seems' (smell and taste) younger than the age statement.

    This is not unusual.

  • pause at 4:28, now thats the face of frustration :D

  • @C5Rigzz

Not the same (usually) as official bottlings by Distilleries, these are 'Independent' versions, ... but can be just as good !!!

  • Ralfy, are the shop-bottled whiskies exactly the same as what's in the bottle from the distillery? Or, is that price difference you mention (and that it's made to drink, not collect) an indication the whisky itself is not quite the same?

  • Finlaggan is good value for an Islay Malt
