i would not recomend leting the c02 get into your cannister sometimes it will get trapped and cause pressure on the seals and cause it to leak.

ok iv been looking for "plain bankers yeast" i dont know what to look for... every time i look for yeast i get "active dry" or "quick rising" yeast and i NEVER see any yeast that is labled "bakers yeast' could you please tell me to BRAND NAME or the same exsact yeast you use... because i cant seem to find the correct yeast.

@killerlief The quick rising yeast is what you DON'T want, but the active dry is exactly what you need. Make sure you update the mixture of yeast sugar and baking soda. 1 cup of brown sugar, half a cup white, 1 teaspoon yeast and 1 tsp baking soda.
This should give you the best result, if not, just try some slight variations.
Take care :)

guys plz help me with this stupid quest ... how can i get rid of the alcohol & got only co2
3waad3 1 year ago
@3waad3 I apologize for the late response, I bet you have the answer for your question already. You can't get rid of the alcohol during the process. The bacteria produce it as result of digesting the sugar. But when the mix is done producing Co2, you can just dump the useless solution in the sink. Other than that, there are Co2 cartridges you can buy also. Pure compressed Co2 released by a contraption.

hey man, im going to use this in my 3 gallon tank with my shrimp. because of the smaller volume of water i wont need as much co2. do you think i can use the same recipe, and same size bottle as you, but only put in half a teaspoon of yeast? i hope this will make it last twice as long but still produce a steady flow of CO2

@bigun1999999 Sure thing man, give it a try. Try and error is the whole concept of these DIY contraptions. Let me know how you make out. Remember, the sugar makes the biggest difference. And make sure you don't use quick rise yeast, only regular. Good luck friend.
