from "ER confidential". Benton reaches out to a shocked Carter who's trying to deal with his patient's suicide. This scene is all kinds of sweet.

  • I think the Carter Benton relationship is why I started watching this show.

  • @juliabohemian me too. and probably why I kept watching as long as I did... and why I bothered to start watching again at the very end. Nothing other than a Carter/Benton reunion could get me watching season 15, I think. :)

  • @ijustdontcare I missed all the middle seasons. I watched the first two and the last two. Are Benton and Carter on the show, for its entire duration?

  • @juliabohemian Well, Benton was on until mid-season 8, and Carter stuck around until the end of season 11, but he had some cameos for the next three seasons, until Noah Wyle finally returned as a "regular" for the last five episodes. There's a pretty intense Carter storyline as the series ends, and Benton has a guest appearance in two episodes as part of that storyline. It's really a sweet conclusion to one of the best relationships on the show.

  • Season 1 episode 10... you're so close, keep working on it! =)

  • If you see Carter here in season 1 and then in season 15 you can't help feeling a little sad for him. He has gone through so much suffering and I just wished they had given him a real happy ending at the end of ER. Will miss Carter and ER.

  • Their bromance is perfection.

  • best bro-mance ever!

  • @FeelingSupersonic94 LOL You know he is thinking "WTF?!" HaHaHa

  • islam is the only true religion.

  • @kathy1977 That's real life, though. Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you. If ER did anything, it definitely showed that real life sucks, and that you take every victory you can get.

And I think it looked good for Carter in the end. Sure, it didn't have anything definite, but at least they let those little rays of hope shine in to let us think everything was going to be okay.

A real ending is definitely better than a happy ending in the long run. At least, I think it is.

  • We didn't have to guess how things ended for all the other characters. Abby got a new job and ended up w/Luka. Benton is happy and still with Cleo, Susan is happy with her job and has a new man in her life, Doug and Carol are happily married and raising their family, working together at the same hospital, etc.. Everybody got a proper ending. But with John they decide to leave it open ended. MAYBE he and Kem work it out. MAYBE they don't. MAYBE he stays at County, MAYBE he doesn't. That sucks.
