  • Well, if we really want to get into it, the enormous success of bands like The Beatles paved the way for corporate marketing focuses on trends and then bleeding them dry. They want people to faint at shows like girls did during the Ed Sullivan show. The problem with this line of thinking is that these bands are born, not made. The mainstream itself is currently poisoned because of the corporate control, rather than letting great bands emerge simply from their own inspiration.

  • He's 100% right of course. Bad music awareness is severely lacking in today's youth cultures. Bad music is diverse, but structurally and thematically similar: radio friendly, love, sex, angst. Good music, on the other hand, is limitless in possibility and potential, and those working to expand music as art should be our focus.
