"Be Yad-e Gilan" (meaning "In Remembrance of Gilan" in Persian)

This folk dance from Ghasemabad (in northern Iran) is about harvesting rice, the most abundant and popular food from that region.

This piece was performed by the students of Shahrzad Dance Academy (SDA), a California based Persian dance company in the U.S., founded by Shahrzad Khorsandi in 1996.

SDA performs both locally and internationally at various events such as cultural festivals, weddings, school & library educational programs, and formal concerts.

Contact us to book an event, enroll in classes, purchase instructional DVDs, or audition for the company: www.dancepersian.org

Choreography by Shahrzad Khorsandi
Performed in 2004 by SDA students Anna Ansari, Mehrnush Golriz, Deellan Kashani, Saba Keramati, Neeka Mahdavi, Bahar Ostadan, Tina Saadi, Mitra Yazdi
