Germans in the American Civil War

Ein Video über die Deutschen im Amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg. Während des Sezessionskrieges kämpften über 220000 Deutsche in der Armee der Union. Auf der Seite des Südens kämpften ebenfalls mehrere tausend Deutsche, leider gibt es dafür keine genaueren Zahlen.
Dieses Video soll dazu beitragen, dass dieser Konflikt auch in Deutschland nie vergessen wird. Es ist nicht nur ein Teil der amerikanischen Geschichte, sondern ebenfalls ein Teil der deutschen Geschichte. Es ist schade, dass das Thema ,,Amerikanischer Bürgerkrieg'' heute im Geschichtsunterricht in den Schulen Deutschlands kaum Beachtung findet und nur sehr stiefmütterlich behandelt wird.

A video about the Germans in the American Civil War. During the American Civil War more then 220000 native Germans served in the Union Army. A few thousand native Germans served also in the confederate army.
This video should help that these soldiers should be not forgotten here in germany.

Theres a tale of a nameless German soldier in the Army of Northern Virginia that lived like a hermit in every camp, and in winter lived in a primitive hut of leaves and brush. No one could unerstand what he was saying when he talked and is said to have served through the whole war without exchanging an understandable word with his fellows.

@Cengiz78x Germany lost to overwhelming odds if Germany would have had half the populace and resources of Russia it would have easily gained control of the war. Germany by far was the better than any country in that time period including America. But since it was Nazi socialism I don't like it as much as I would if it wasn't Socialist. Nevertheless though Germany is still an outstanding country if only its prime minister wasn't female. sigh.
