now that i'm retired from the Army i'm securing oil platforms in nigeria.
i have 3 tours in afghanistan genius.

Blah Blah Blah I have never been there and have no idea what i am talking about but i want to sound important on youtube. If you really want to know why the bases in the far north are built in valleys maybe you should go there.

quartering parties are fucking lazy.
takes more logistical know how to build fobs and even semi hasty pb's.
it's harder to survey the higher elevations PROPERLY and ncoic/oic don't want the hassle/can't hump the hill.
they don't want to answer to a superior when aked why they're dug in way up that fucking hill.
you're totally on point with your observation and my response is from direct observation of worthless leaders.

That place looks impossible to defend,why are all the outposts in eastern Afghanistan situated in low ground surrounded by mountains?Keep the ANA and ANP in the villages to discourage Taliban influence whilst US/ISAF troops dominate the high ground to observe and hinder enemy movement.
