Will I be able to use my old IDE drives if I enable AHCI??

Guy, when in regedit (or anything else for that matter) you can start typing the characters to "snap" to the folder then press the right arrow. In this case, click on "HKLM" then sys > curr > ser > msa...

Recently discovered that when I reinstalled my computer and also reset my BIOS, I forgot to enable AHCI. I have tried this method and it simply doesn't work for me. All I get is a black screen when I try to boot.
I will soon reinstall my computer again, but I'd like to have AHCI for now.

I did the step but when I reboot and went into bios I couldn't find the Configure sata tab in my bios?

@wilkmn keep RAID mode on :)
Someone please tell me in simple terms the difference between ide, RAID and AHCI. I checked my system bios and by default it was set at AHCI. I intend to install an SSD soon, should I keep it at AHCI or switch to another or disable it completely? Also I will be having a 500gb drive running for storage, does this affect anything?

@yazoo178 AHCI lets the motherboard and SATA controller take advantage of newer technology in SATA drives that IDE drives don't have. You should see a slight performance increase as well as cooler/more efficient drive operation with AHCI enabled. AHCI is required for RAID, as well. RAID stands for Redundant Array of Indifferent Disks... basically you can do RAID 0 for enhanced speed, RAID 1 for backup, etc. You shouldn't worry about IDE because it is an old technology.
