@KonnieHoover i got to see him live at the crystal ballroom when i was about 12, wasnt old enough to really appreciate it at the time, but so glad i did now in retrospect

The chord progression reminds me of Neil Young's "Tell Me Why". But anyway, it was just fair to adore Neil in the 90's, just like I adore Elliott right now (and Neil too).

This song reminds me of summer 2006 swimming through cases Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale, surfing myspace. Very clean apartment except for the semi-circle against the wall where I Jack Kerouaced my way through tons of new songs(including by ES), new people, and old memories. I lived quite happily in cyberland for 6 months. It was my beautiful place to get lost. Then myspace died, and hell, it was time to move on anyway. To find some other place to get lost.

I wish I could have been Elliott Smith's friend. Of course I never met him, but somehow I like him better than alot of the people I do know in real life

Yeah. If life is a battle, than Elliott was a soldier who didn't fit in. His life was a constant struggle with depression and drug addiction. He couldn't make it, but he left us with some of the most beautiful music ever. Maybe he made his songs hoping they would help people to keep moving forward, when he knew that he couldn't. R.I.P is all there is to say :(
