The Tree of Life Trailer 2011 HD

From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

what point was this movie trying to get across? made no sense what so ever , at one point a suggestion that life is evolving yet does not assume the source nor how truly. at another the lady is delusional about gods home is at the clouds or sun which clearly shows the mute understand what does god really mean and why is it supporting you and I right NOW? This movies a total waste of existence

while other films will get boring... the 20th time you heard the same joke or the 100th time you know this person is going to die in this action scene... The Tree of Life will get more interesting over time and will never get old. THIS IS A GROUND BREAKING FILM.

@friendsroxs101 That's actually a very good take. When you think back on any event it is just random seconds of images and fleeting emotions. You don't remember in a linear way. What I meant by relax is don't fight it. I think a lot of people begin fighting it the moment it starts. You have to relax and see if it takes "you" anywhere. My sister cried for the whole 2 hrs, I didn't but it still resonated with me.

Still it's a film unlike any another.

@acechadwick I just saw it and I agree you with u mostly. But you can't relax, it's too confusing and unclear. I think it is tht way because life and people's lives are often confusing and have no plot, they are instead made up of many little plots.

I think this is a personal film and you can "see" it on any level you want.

I think people who have more life experience will be able to relate to it more. I'm not being patronising here but you have to be able to look back to your youth and your own childhood to find things that resonate with you.

Fundamentally it's a film about spirit and how you view the world around you. Whether you're actually aware of your surroundings and the people in your life.

Relax and let it take you wherever.
