I see that you added a lot of compound thermal ..All you needed was just a grain of rice amount. That compound is going to over flow onto the CPU and can damage the CPU. Be care full my friend. Other than that you are doing a pretty go job putting the system together but looks like you were having some little trouble with that Sata cable...Tight

That's a lot of thermal compound you put on the CPU, what brand?

@NoneImparticular yeah if your'e overclocking to 4 ghz it will kill your cpu. but why for a htpc this is more than enough
-
Hmm a HTPC case would be awesome for a home media server.
-
too much thermal paste !
-
i7 in a HTPC, what the hell are you doing????
-
that really is some 'thight'cable management
-
is that scythe cooler quiet enough?
-
thats an odd psu placement

You can put alot of thermal compound but after it you have to put it more thin. You started to do it but you just spread out. Of course you waste your thermal compound when you do it like that XD.
-
wayyyyyy to much thermal compound...all u need is a pea size of a grain of rice rise

Dude, u have suchs nice components for this build. But u make suchs a mess of them. Ur telling "NoneImparticular" that the cpu cooler is a little bit cooler then the standard Intel cooler. Uuhm, with that much of a wire mess inside, the temps are pretty much equal. Get those wires tugged away for god sake.
That heatsink gonna kill your CPU, bro...

@NoneImparticular
The CPU is probably the most reliable component in your system, the CPU is able to 100% stable for an extended period without throttling with this heatsink. It is definitely not for over clocking though, and various benchmarks on the internet indicate it performs slightly better than Intel stock cooling despite being physically smaller.

HD 4550, I have since upgraded to a larger chassis so I can put a HD 5770 in it. I am going to use the HTPC chassis for a lower powered CPU. The HTPC chassis was fine during winter, but when it came to summer, it just wasn't keeping cool enough as I do not have air-conditioning.

@smithydll You don't want a 5770, get 5870... better Price/Performance ratio.

@NoneImparticular I already bought the 5770 several months ago. I didn't want to spend too much, and no-where had 5xxx in stock.
