On Sept. 12th, 2009 the Kalamazoo Homeless Day of Dignity served over 600 homeless and low-income adults, and close to 175 children.
The event provided items such as new underwear, socks, gloves, T-shirts, sweat shirts, blankets, hygiene packs, tote bags and school supplies.
The Day of Dignity was was coordinated by Western Michigan University student Tipu Sultan with support from WMUs Muslims Students Association, Islamic Relief, the Kalamazoo Islamic Center, the Bilal Islamic Center, the Kalamazoo Muslim Youth Group, Kalamazoo Lend a Hand, the Poverty Reduction Initiative, and Ministry with Community.
