I was born with VACTERL/VATER Association in 1957, including Anal Atresia (requiring a pull through), spinal defects and some renal anomalies. These defects left me with a life time of medical issues that require medical intervention. If we as a society are going to bring babies into the world who have birth defects we have to recognize that it isn't fair to saddle them with the entire burden of providing medical coverage for themselves for the rest of their lives. I just wish those tea baggers, who are against what they call "Obamacare" and what I call a god given right and a basic human necessity that everybody should have, would realize that things like this will continue to happen without Obama's healthcare law. Do they like people being denied health care and health insurance because they have a pre-exisitng condition or they get dropped if they get sick or old? I just wish they knew how important health care to Americans are!

@whlcat Your doctor must be misinformed, because you can keep your private insurance if you like it, even under the new health care bill. I wonder if Dick Cheney would have gotten all of his heart surgeries if he was a private citizen? With his pre-existing condition he would have been DENIED! Now they intend to pay doctors a set fee per patient, essentially making the doctor an employee of the federal government. Thats why my family doctor retired when the health care bill passed, and now raises horses. And to ilovecoffeex12....so far as I know, the USA does not kidnap people and drag them here.
