מי היו אבות אבותינו בני ישראל ומהיכן באו ?
האם היו אלה כנענים שפתאום החליטו לשנות את דתם והמציאו עבר מפואר, או שמא היו אלה עבדים כנענים שאכן ברחו מהמלכים המצרים, או אולי אלה אכן מהגרים עברים מנהריים (מסופוטמיה) כפי שטוען המקרא ? בכל מקרה ב1208 לפנה"ס בעולם מוזכר לראשונה עם בשם ישראל שממוקם בדרום ארץ כנען. ממצאים ארכאולוגיים של 1200 לפנה"ס מצביעים על אכלוס דל של 3-5 אלף בלבד ב12 ישובים באזור השומרון ו200 שנה לאחר מכן (תקופת המלך דוד) האכלוסיה מתפוצצת ל40-50 אלף ביותר מ 200 ישובים ברחבי שומרון ויהודה. גידול טבעי לא יכול להסביר שינוי כזה חד באותה תקופה ולכן זהו אולי רמז להתיישבות מאסיבית של בני ישראל המקראיים. כבר אז מופיעים הרמזים הראשונים לכתב עברי עתיק, וכבר אז ככל הנראה החלה כתיבת ספרי התורה בידי הסופרים E ו J. ארבע מאות שנה נוספים תתקיים ממלכת יהודה ותשלוט בירושלים עד חורבן בית המקדש הראשון בידי הבבלים ב586 לפנה"ס, אך במקום להיעלם העם היהודי ישמור על מורשתו ובתוך שתי דורות יחזור לארץ ישראל להקים את בית המקדש השני ולהשלים את מלאכת כתיבת הספר המפורסם ביותר בהיסטוריה האנושית - ספר התנ"ך.

Who were the ancestors of Israelites, and where was their origin ? Were those simple Canaanites, who decided to change their reiligion and invented a glorious past, or Canaanite slaves who indeed ran away from Egyptian Lords and embodied their Legacy into the Exodus, or were they indeed Hebrew (Habirru) immigrants to Egypt from Mesopotamia as the Bible states? In any case for the first time in history the name "Israel" appears enscripted on an Egyptian stella of conquest of Ratenu (Canaan), placing people named Israel in the southern part of the land of Canaan. The archeological digs prove a tiny population of just 3-5 thousands in Samaria's twelve villages at 1200BCE, which would explode into 40-50 thousand at 1000BCE, living across more than two hundred settlements of Judea and Samaria. Natural growth cannot explain such change, thus giving a possible clue to the massive settlement of Biblical Israelites, beginning from south. At this era of David and Solomon first inscriptions of ancient Hebrew alphabet appear, and possibly the actual writing of the Hebrew Bible has already begun by writers nicknamed J and E. For 400 more years Israelite kingdoms will rule the area, until the invasion of Babylonian armies, the sack of Jerusalem and excile of Judeans to Babylon. Yet, instead of disappearing the Judean nation would return to Judea within two generations, rebuild the Temple and complete the writing of the most famous book in history of human kind - The Hebrew Bible.
