So, to me Hazama is sort of OP and it kind of bothers me because I often win just because of some easy Jayoku Hitconfirm that leads into humonguos damage.

The idea here, is to propose a small change, that would, in my opinion, fix Hazama's S-Tier Status and still keep him very fun to play/ high A-Tier.

The concept behind this, is making only a selected few normals (namely 6A and 6B, and the jabs) cancelable by Jayoku. Hazama would thus loose Herp derp ways to get unproportional damage compared to most of the rest of the cast. However, he would still maintain high damage potential, but for a higher risk/more situational. What I show here is the options Hazama has to get high damage in mostly mid-screen but also some corner Situations without using Heat or Jayoku. I also show some moves that LINK into Jayoku, instead of canceling from a normal (the usual way to start a Jayoku right now)

I really believe this would be THE ideal Hazama, and hope Aksys doesn't completely change the awesome Hazama we now have in BB3, but instead tries to go for a milder nerf, like the one I suggested here.

You are of course encouraged to discuss and share your opinion on this idea (which I actually developed out of a conversation with Hen-Tai, a pretty good Hakumen player).

P.S.: Pardon the poor editing, just did that quick and besides WML no proper Editing software handled my compressed 60fps footage.

P.S.2: Forgot to include the 5.7k Command grab combo, I think that it would actually be ok if it stayed, if hazama lost the other easy ways to combo into jayoku.
The music is from the PoP - Warrior Within OST.

  • Also, it's not like I take away his Jayoku. I only suggest to make it harder to combo into Jayoku. It's kinda stupid you can confirm into it from every Hitconfirm into herp derp damage. And you also still have the command grab, from which you can start a safe 5.7k with 50 heat, I don't see the need to have easy pratical 8k starters like 5C or 3C; almost no char in the cast (except for Makoto, Noel and Jin) have such easy high-damage combo starters.

  • most combos you shows are realy difficult to do, (I for one has never been able to land a j.6D after the Jakou and I tried a lot of times...) so even if he has some good combos w/o Houtenjin they are far harder to do than most characters, plus needs to be on a counter hit, if you play agains't a good oponnent you won't do counter hit with 3C everytime since it's kinda slow, and for the rapids, it still uses 50 heat... so houtenjin or RC, I prefer houtenjin...) Hazama isn't OP, he never was...

  • @Warriorkiller666 Combo difficulty only plays second role in High-Level gameplay however. Honestly, I'm not that good at execution, but I rarely drop the Shin Zakiyama Combo, especially offline. The fact that Hazama can do it and thus go for crazy high damage from pretty much every situation just makes him a tad too strong in my opinion. Online is, of course, another story. Also, Hazama has lots of primer Damaging moves, 6A, 6B, 6C, 214D~C, j.214B, Jayoku... All good and practical moves.

  • @Dixxhead why do you call it ''Shin Zakyiama combo''? it may play a second role but it renders the characters more difficult to play if any combo he can do for real damage a really hard to do..., about primer damaging move, 6A and 6B are slow, 6C ends s blockstring, 214D~C too and is interruptible j.214B is slow due to the fact you have to jump and Jayoku... you shouldn't do it if it's getting blocked, it has a LARGE CD, and his damaging combos needs to start with a CH 3C or have Houtenjin...

  • @Warriorkiller666 You can also start very damaging stuff from 214D~C or generaly in the corner, like 70% of the cast. I call it shin zakiyama, because a player called Zakiyama (*imo* best Hazama player ever, he died in a car accident :'( ) used the j.6D combo back in CS (was harder to do in CS). Japanese people call the new j.6D shin zakiyama shiki (New Zakiyama Style), so I go with the flow. Most primer eating moves are slow, aside from some tools, platinum only has the heartcar. THAT is bad.

  • @Dixxhead 214D~C is done after 3C in CH wich dosen't happen that often when facing strong opponnents, or Houtenjin, and for guard Primer eating moves, Jin has Ice car, Ragna DeadSpike, Tsubaki 236C, Lambda 236C, plat heart car, Makoto's comet canon Noel's d.6C etc platinum also have the hammer wich take out 2 primer and is really fast shall I continue? and I know about Zakyiama that's why I asked this, I just never saw him use it, but he isn't dead, that's a false rumor, he moved somewhere else.

  • @Warriorkiller666 Oh nice :D Good to know he's still well up. Got any real proof for that? The internets is full of bull about stuff like that, its quite sad really.

Guard Primer things again: 236C for Tsubaki is "-" on block, so is lambdas 236C, Platinum is fucked if you block her Heartcar, so is Jin. Ragna's Deadspike is great, but it IS pretty much Ragna's best move. I agree Noel should have no guard primer crushing in her D-Chains. You can often land 214D~C if you know how to do mixups.

  • I just wish that they make a 1 month patch that (they'll patch up again afterward) is made strictly to shut people up:

For complaining about Jayoku's cancelling capabilities, we'll let Jayoku CANCEL into Jayoku.

    >D

  • you really ARE silly. Hazama isn't the only person to use a Distortions in his combo and then continue.

    Look at Carl!

if they take away Hazama's cancelling ability into Jayoku Houtenjin, they sure as hell better take away EVERYONE ELSES as well. That's the concept of a 2D fighter: everyone has the ability to do things, or no one does.

Even if Hazama is the only person who can get away with it, no one can still complain.

    2 reasons:

    1. He is the boss character

    2. Trollzama FTW!

  • @Dixxhead Tsubaki's 236C is safe on block, or at least agains't Hazama since I cant counter her, Lambda is to far to counter so again pretty safe, Heartcar isn't safe but Hammer yes, and Jin's Ice car (the C on not the D one) is also somewhat safe on block the most damage I can do w/o Houtenjin is 1400... (since I can't do 3C he can block before, and I won't have the time to do 236D~C... About Zakyiama, I don't have any proof but I read in a lot of place that is death was a false rumor...

  • @Warriorkiller666 @Warriorkiller666 Thanks for commenting :) I do believe Hazama's pressure is very good actually. His 2A has +1 and his 5B has +2; it gives you a lot of options for frametraps and since every move except for 2B is jump cancelable, you can surprise your enemy with a crossup (every move is also stance cancelable=>mixups). In addition to that, every stance move is safe on block, you can only punish before you get hit. Hazama also has ouroboros for decent long range pressure.
