This entry is in Chapter II: Absent Friends, after the Comedian's burial and Rorschach's visit to Moloch's. He walks down 42nd street and passes a business called Burlesk, with a sign that reads 'Tonite Enola Gay and the Little Boys', as well he is seen being offered sex from a hooker, refusing, and being flicked off. Then he picks the lock to the cemetery and enters where the Comedian was buried. There is a flashback to Eddie Blake's death, and being thrown out of his apartment window, and then Rorschach takes one of the red roses that were lain at his grave.

He notes women's breasts being displayed on every billboard and littering the sidewalk. He suspects Moloch for the death of the Comedian, suggesting it was part of a revenge scheme that was planned during his decade behind bars. He says he pays his last respects quietly, without fuss, referring to the priest's scripture reading. He comments on how Edward Blake was buried in the rain, how there's a life of conflict with no time for friends, and that when it's done, 'only our enemies leave roses.' He notes that masked adventurers never die in bed, 'not allowed,' saying it might be something in their personalities, 'some animal urge to fight and struggle.' He shrugs the idea, saying it's unimportant, 'we do what we have to do.' He believes that Blake understood the world's behavior, even though he treated it like a joke, becoming a parody of it. 'No one else saw the joke. That's why he was lonely.'

He then tells a joke he heard once: "Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says 'Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says 'But, doctor...I am Pagliacci.'" He then calls it a good joke. 'Everybody laugh.'

"Was offered Swedish love and French love...but not American love. American love; like Coke in green glass bottles...they don't make it anymore."

  • I feel you admin, I feel you.

  • no it didn't. There where parts of both that did and didn't do things right. Example. Rorschach's death was not as well done in the book when the movie's version was deeper more emotional. Stop bitching and wining like every other over sencitive fan of a comic book and stop ruining the enjoyment other people get out of these king of movie's.

  • I may be in the minority, but this voice actor nailed both Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan (even if any female character was giggle-worthy). And an original score will always beat out a soundtrack. The timing of all components in this scene are perfect, and if you had to pick just one moment from the entire Digital Comic this is it.. This is the one.

  • Rorschach is deep, but has terrible grammar...

  • Admin, you so silly.

  • @girguy101 what a fagit, amirite?

  • REPOST, ADMIN

  • What's the name of background music?

  • @TheMajinTrunks Actually I watched the movie first, and then read the book. I didn't get that problem like your friends did, but I'm also very analytical when it come's to watching movies so I was able to assume the most of it expect the ending which is really the biggest gripe I had with the film. Thought, I do thank to movie, because without it, I wouldn't have picked up the graphic novel nor would have my circle of friends for that matter so the movie did pick up new fans for the comic.

  • @trusttruth1985 Didn't even nottice the age of the comment :P. The movie is good mind you, but it doesn't deliver the kick of the book.. Or even as good a kick as the animated comic. So many things were left out and so many things were just watered down. If you didn't read the book a very usual feeling for a watcher was confusion. Had many friends who hadn't read the book said they just felt confused. It's because the movie is just so shallow on key points. That's the bad part.

  • @TheMajinTrunks Wow that was a 2 year old comment you responded too o.O You know what, since then I understand perfectly what you're talking about. However I do still really enjoy the movie for what it is in that, as a movie, it's solid, but comparatively to the graphic novel it's not nearly as deep or thought provoking.

  • @trusttruth1985 actually the movie did it quite badly. Whole point of the book was ambiguity. Rorschach was a choice and so was Adrian. Weather you chose one or the other, that is left up to you. The reader. Weather rorschach's vision of never compromising was right... was left up to you. You didn't need Night Owl becoming Captain Obvious.

The movie was a washed out version of the book. Just like every other movie based on a book out there. It's not an insult. It's just the truth.
