Enjoy some great video of our great apes at Brookfield Zoo, featuring Binti Jua, Bakari and Nadaya. You may have seen some media coverage on gorillas receiving physicals this week...our vet team performs these physical exams to make sure these magnificent primates are in good health, and, since we are a teaching institution, we also n...eed to share what we find so that it can benefit the entire North American zoo gorilla population.
By collecting and studying information on many individuals, and to improve our ability to diagnose, treat and prevent illness, these exams include everything from routine blood chemistry tests to cardiac ultrasound exams and special scientific studies.

@darlingsapphire1 you do realize those gorillas have a good amount of fur on them, right? And, people are laughing and staring at them because the gorillas do want attention. Clapping their hands and jumping/climbing around is a sign that they are happy.

This indoor exhibit for gorillas is not very nice, no earth, people watching them all
the time and laughing at them, acting stupid. A lot of their hair is missing. Why
doesn't Brookfield zoo do something to make their indoor home much more
natural and comfortable for them and places to get away from the noise and
stares. BinJua is an amazing gorilla in that she had the good sense tocarry
the human child to a human keeper- her inate reasoning, nothing to do with
training her.
