Guys is CBS good for operations managment?

"You get a second chance to dream about what you want to be when you grow up".
Excellent job with this video, Excellent!! I've watched it a couple times, and it's really inspiring.

@taillebasse1 I have to say that I resent your comments. Columbia Business School (along with most other top-tier b-schools) prides itself in its moral and ethical standing. We (students) are investing a lot of effort, time, and money in our education so that we can be prepared to be entrepreneurial and successful in the business world... Not so that we can be corrupt and sit on boards.
You may be looking to throw blame somewhere for a struggling economy, but CBS is not the right place.

@DrBanman12 Mia is right! I can speak about the alumni network in Latin America, specially in Argentina where they have been extremely helpful and very receptive from the very first day I started thinking about CBS

@DrBanman12 CBS has an amazing alumni group. Obviously, lots of alums are in New York, but there are many in other cities as well. You could try to find out more information through admissions or the Southeast Asian Business Association. Information on student clubs can be found here: www4.gsb.columbia.edu/cbs-dire

Great video! I was wondering how interactive/resourceful CBS alumni have been in your experience (especially for those trying to tap into the network to switch careers)? Do you find that the alumni network is geographically biased (i.e. NYC) or pretty well represented around the world (I'm particularly interested in working in S.E. Asia). Thanks!

Very inspirational...
Why does CBS ask for a picture in the application?
What do they do with it?
fmtoussant 4 months ago
@fmtoussant Good question... I actually don't know the reasoning behind it. I haven't seen the picture since submitting it with the application. AND It won't be used later for your class roster or Student ID card (you submit a new photo for those).

thanks for this--great video! I especially like the tweet, "come from wherever you are, go wherever you want". What resources are available for career changers at CBS?
nycg821 5 months ago
@nycg821 There are MANY, MANY career changers here! AND this is a great place for them. That tweet is really the truth. Once you get here, you will have the opportunity to explore any type of job that interests you. Whether it's something you've done before or something brand new, there will be panels, presentations, and recruiting events for virtually any type of job you might want...

@mmelmed2 For the career changers, did you apply/interview and acknowledge that you wanted to make a career change? Or did you rather look to pursue something related to your previous fields, and change your minds after the fact?

@dr0xlunltd Both routes are common. The application process is a great time to do some self-examination. If you really want a career change then you probably have some compelling reasons for the new direction. Don't be afraid to be honest in your application and state those reasons with confidence. If you're a consultant, but found that the financial analysis part of the job is what really interested you, then it's okay to say your goal is to be an investment banker.
