I just love watching Toby's facial expressions during the last scene. He has no idea why the President is calling a turkey hotline, but he plays along anyway. It's one of the few scenes where he's genuinely tickled by something.

No, lol, just normal, warts and all. Look, I'm a liberal, so this isn't an anti-Democrat thing, but the Dems in real life are much less folksy than this - Bartlett is a myth and (at times) an annoying one, as in this piece - the Sorkin programme here is to present a false view of the Presidency that sells the myth. It's a piece of establishment propaganda, 'the lovely friendly US family president', packaged for export to a gullible world.

Funny, but like many Aaron Sorkin pieces, combines implausibility with propaganda - this is designed to soften the US presidency, make it appear human and people-friendly, claim a sympathy vote for the show within the US from middle-aged voters, contains a christian-friendly message conceived from focus groups and audience-research and is, like the entire show, designed to mitigate President Clinton and portray the Democrats as "homely folks".
