CMPro Ventus FPV Crash

My buddy Christian's second flight on his newest and best FPV video setup.
CMPro Ventus glider, modified with user controlled video camera, HUD (heads up display), and GPS coordinates fed to a video monitor on his radio tray. Didn't get to use it, the receiver shut down and the beautiful plane piled into the ground at the bottom of the mountain. He had intended to record the flight from the on-board camera, but forgot to bring his camcorder. Bummer!

@javipons22 I don't know if he had that much in it. Half that or even less. But that's nothing. Search my videos for the Jet Rally crash I filmed. Watching a $7,000 jet go up in a fireball is WAY more "Holy" than this one.

Pilot error whether battery/BEC or bad flying - it IS pilot error. And oh yeah its not FPV the guy is looking directly at the plane and not the screen. Video goggles are more convincing.

No, a pilot can use the best gear in a plane, do it perfectly, and it can still fail. Even the best pilots in the world lose planes, sometimes more than most because of their over confidence. But in this case, you are right, it was builders error. He should have used a much bigger BEC or A123 to power the receiver, not a 3 amp BEC.

As for not using the FPV, no responsible pilot would actually fly the plane FPV on the maiden. He would have done that the 2nd flight after it checked out ok.

Why did he stop filming? I wanted to see them crying! I didn't get to see them cry! I wanted to see him throw the remote down the hill after the plane! I've bought three RC planes. I cried after each one crashed. Each one crashed on the maiden flight too. I suck at RC planes. I'm gettin' a helicopter. You should too! Just sayin'! He should have filmed him crying!!!

@toddsher2112 Strange you guys talk about BEC with this glider plane, especially in such a strong wind. This plane is extremely fast, i got the same, it's called discus but is pretty similar. I really got the feeling that the plane fell to pieces (lost its integrity in some way..) due to overspeeding beyond what it could sustain.
