  • M was originally intended to be entitled Murderers Among Us but Lang could not get access to any of the German film studios while his project carried that tentative title, because the Nazis interpreted it as referring to them.

    (Confession at it's best).

    Peter Lorre's whistling is music enough, and very haunting at that.

  • I didn't even notice there was no soundtrack. That's how good this movie is.

  • @LaSerpentaCanta According to the DVD commentary, the scene with Peter Lorre in this clip is supposed to be almost like a camera observing an animal's activities from afar (particularly the part where he's behind the bushes and we can't quick see him). So that's one reason why music isn't appropriate there.
