The Pips (Malaysia) pays tribute to the legendary Ari Up(The Slits) who passed away recently, by covering their version of 'I Heard It Thru the Grapevine'. This song was originally recorded by Smokey Robinson in 1966 and was then popularize by Motown's finest persona Marvin Gaye and also by the original Gladys Knight & The Pips(USA) in 1967.

(slit footages from Derek Jarman's Jubilee(1977), Typical Girls & credits to GilW live slit footage at San Francisco 09)

The Pips is Kuala Lumpur's own Lemuria clashes with a bit of The Cardigan that recently produced a noteable EP "Tugs Of War" under DIY label Knot Records. Armed with socio-politico conscious lyrics and the ability to switch on entertaining atmosphere. 3 girls and a she-dude with lotsa grrl!powah in the guts!
