i developed a few symptoms of Ligamentous Laxity and scoliosis but did not have problems before the accident : P

So, unmasked! It's just too warm to wear the usual mask and anyway, eh.
I am actually a really shy and private person but no mask now : P

I was hit by a dodge ram truck several years ago and was able to walk away, so that's
pretty lucky. : D

It can be something to glow about, but I feel that I can't do half the things I used to do:
jogging, bowling, weight-lifting, my usual stretching routine... none
of these had bothered me before.

Recovering as much strength/flexibility as I previously had
is something I try working at.
I was able to do pretzel poses six months after the accident, after learning
to bend my legs another way so that my back isn't bothered. It used to be a really comfortable thing for me, but with my spine buckling and it having tension, I can no longer just sit and watch a movie with my feet behind my head or be bounced along a trampoline.

It's taken time to just put my foot to the back of my head after the accident, took 2 years.
Really difficult on my right with my collarbone and spine issues.

It's only this year that I've been able to get my left foot to touch my forehead and sometimes my nose.
My back can't bend back as far so i actually had to get my leg to go further at first, and gradually my back can move a bit more easily. Chest/rib issues also used to bother me when putting my left foot up.

Other personal issues:
-something in my back feels stuck, like a cramp that i need to stretch out. doesn't bend as much as it used to either.
-constant pressure at chest, more with each breath
-my neck seems pretty rigid, and the back of it feels bent out more than it should be, but docs don't bring it up. : S
-not always comfortable to even sit due to my spine and chest
-typing and writing can annoy my right arm, sometimes it even burns at the collarbone area. can also lock up.
-need to stretch out my back here and there because it's too cramped to sleep or get out of bed
-a hit along my right arm, wrist, shoulder, anywhere, is more sensitive than my left due to tendinitis caused by the shortened/strained collarbone
-sometimes i'd almost want a customized wheelchair and sling for my collarbone for support when the tension and pressure get too high
-well, my breasts, especially my left, are a bit undersupported since something feels uneven with the bones below. i mean you're whacked by a truck, things stretch out, and taffy comes to mind. not something the doctors or xrays notice though

  • I have the exact same problems due to being hypermobile and having scoliosis, well sucks my body looks shifted to the side! The problems started like yours after having an accident which triggered everything off.

  • @LucaBlightBadass wow hey, how do you cope in the meantime? i sometimes try to stretch myself out when it gets too bad

  • Injuries aren't always at a constant level of pain/pressure, but here's a current update:

For the moment, 3am on a Tuesday,

my back is absolutely hurting as the spine buckles over as which means I need to relax/stretch it out for a bit. : P I can't lay on my stomach without my back being under a lot of tension. Sloooooowly incrementing.

There's pressure along the breastbone(sternum), left pectoral and area of right collarbone.

It's why I can't really have a regular thing with weights.

  • @daanon44 And eh, today I'm lots better. : P I don't feel nearly as bad as yesterday.

  • I have to say considering your injuries it looks like you are doing really well. Keep it up!

  • @cowm00n Well, thanks : )

  • @daanon44 Well i stretch alot but im no,way as flexible as you and im supposed to be double jointed lol! But best thing whats worked for me which you should try is strength training exspecialy core work to keep your joints stable. Its hard though like you say cause aint you having pains like everywhere, me too its sucks lol!

  • Sorry for your back. But your pretzels are still awesome :)

  • You are truly amazing and it is a pleasure to watch you. I sure hope you are completely well soon!

  • my you are quite the looker!

also sorry to hear about your injury. I hope that thing will get better for you. Not sure how long it takes for such things to be healed. but may you have a fast recovery!

  • Sorry to read your story - but as you positively put it , you were lucky to walk away! You still have great flexibility!

Have you tried Pilates? I've found it very useful for a lower back issue and I know that dancers use it for recovery.
