I first heard this song on Sunset & Vine in Hollywood in 1968. This record store would let people play and listen to albums. I was attracted to a group of folks listening to this song and cracking up. So, I joined them. I LOVED IT! I had no idea who he was at the time. I also had no idea he would be my future husband. lol

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! This video is only the song part of the Pause of Mr. Claus. The FBI story preceeding this song is on his CD titled "Arlo." They are both hilarious! Since Christmas is around the corner, I thought this would make some people smile.
You can get the whole FBI story & song from his record company.

  • Warner Brothers Records at one time sold what they called "loss leader" albums through the mail. For $1 per 12 inch vinyl record, you could get collections of songs from their artists. A friend of mine ordered many of these loss leaders, around 1970, and this song was on one of them. I thought about it today, this being Christmas eve for me, and thought I'd look for it her on YT. Thank you jguth3 for posting this song. You made my day!

  • I love this song. Today he should sing as "Santa Claus wears a red suit must be a SOCIALIST"

  • i remember this song when i was younger

  • Man, I love this song :) Thanks for the posting.

  • Nice song,great singer

  • "Arlo" is on CD!? YES!.. probably my favourite album of his, I only had access to it on an 8track that was my fathers..... unfortunately all our players died (without bein' met at the bottom of a mountain by a flying-singing-writing-weirdo-freak!)

and the tape itself has since disappeared into the mists of.. well it's probably in the garage somewheres.

  • I first heard this song digging through my fathers old real to real tapes around 1990. I've been looking for this for a long time. Thanks man.

  • so much deeper then you'd think

  • Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone.

  • "Stealin'" is an old song the Memphis Jug Band recorded on Sept. 15, 1928. It's a blues standard that has been covered by a LOT of different folks, Arlo, David Bromberg, and the Grateful Dead just being three that come to mind immediately.
