For over two months, Portland Fire and Rescue (PF&R) employees have been visiting 2-year-old Hudson Cavner in the Oregon Burn Center on their own time from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm every day.

On June 1, 2010, the Cavner family were in their private plane when it crashed in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. Stacie Cavner, her husband, Preston, and their 2-year-old son, Hudson, and family friend Rachel Zientek, 16, of Texas, survived the crash. The Cavners' son Myles, 4, was killed. Hudson, Stacie, and Preston were badly burned and transported to the Oregon Burn Center.

Since both Hudson's mother and father are unable to sit with Hudson for long periods of time due to their own injuries, Portland Fire & Rescue has volunteered to give both sets of Grandparents a daily break from the hospital setting.

PF&R employees look forward everyday to reading books and playing with Hudson in the Healing Garden, watching movies with him, or taking him to visit his father and mother in their rooms.
