  • Dennis is the ultimate drummer when it comes to "playing the song." He is always in the pocket, but did you know he can shred like Keith Moon when he wants? Just buy the "Tommy" CD to find out. Dennis has always sacrificed flashy showmanship for the sake of the song. Great drummer - Greater guy!

  • Dennis Diken is an AMAZING drummer and IMO, VERY under appreciated. I've been a hardcore fan of The Smithereens for decades now and I can't imaging The 'Reens without Dennis. He's ALWAYS solid, consistent, powerful and he just plain knows how to beat the skins when it comes to Rock 'n Roll. It would not be The 'Reens without him! I think I have a man crush.

  • Dennis rules. One of my Musical Idols. I've been a fan of The Smithereens since the first album and have practiced drumming to those records countless times. Just met Dennis (and the rest of the band!) about 6 months ago and he was awesome. (They all were.) Genuine guys with a true passion for music.

  • I love Dennis....I swear I do....but this conversation. Is dragging.....lol .. Long live the Smithereens ... Cent wait to see them on 1/13/12'...

  • I love this, no one will believe me but he is my cousin! His last name is diken ( pronounced dike - in ) but our ancestors last names were pronounced dee coon my name is david diken and so is my dad ( we have diffrent middle names) i have seen him in person like it was no big deal. I bet he doesnt remember me though but i AM his cousin.

  • uh ohhh he gave credit to phil spector...a womanizing murderer...

  • Great drummer and a sweet man.

  • Dennis, you are a great drummer!

  • one of the great great great rock drummers

  • @pellmj1 , you don't play in a band for over 30 years unless you are totally addicted to it. I have no doubt this guy loves it or he would have walked away a long time ago.....btw, his knowledge of music history is insane. He's a true fan of authentic rock and roll. He grew up on The Beach Boys, The Kinks, The Who, etc. and you can here it when he plays.

  • Dennis is one of my idols as a drummer!

  • does he have a policy against smiling on stage?-love his drumming and the cool aloof thing - his background vocals are certainly a valuable secret weapon, but a few songs into the set and i find myself asking: ''is this guy enjoying the wonder of this incredible rock band as much as i am?''.the 3 fellows in front of him seem to be having a blast or ''a gas'' as steve marriot might say.
