and that is what ALWAYS made their songwriting combination so incredible. You had Paul's INCREDIBLE melody craftsmanship and then John's ability to add s much soul/humanity and a bit of drama (including the sad/bad times of life).
Yes, this was the magic that is usually so hard to pin down.
Also, this isn't meant to downplay Lennon's songwriting ability. He was also a master. I'm just explaining why they tended to kill people with amazing songwriting, together.

(continued) of Lennon has died down a lot since growing up and realizing now that he wasn't this perfect mystical god like person, the oen thing that I will credit him most for, musically, while in the Beatles was preventing any cheesy sound from ever coming out from them. This version sounds like it would be on the White Album. I still can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that the Beatles actually recorded this for the Anthology. Even though John wasn't there, I think I can still say that since he WAS still there because of this song. I wish the re-recordings of this and Free as a Bird didn't sound so.. 90'sish-Adult-Soft-Rockish (tell me if you know what I mean) but.. it was probably the best they could do given the circumstances.
